What cake brings you success?

I’ve decided that this is going to be my strapline for 2010. It’s certainly tasty and feels very positive.

My themeword for 2010 is FOCUS, and is part of my Challenge 2010. I decided that I need to FOCUS on my business, my family, my friends and me! Not much then!

But today, I noticed that @RebehakHarriman was going to get cake to help her focus. And that’s when it came to me – “Cake is the key to success”!

And it makes sense doesn’t it? All those ingredients we have to use to make different cakes, all have to be measured out and mixed together in the right quantities to get the excellent results we all enjoy eating.

So, for my business life, I’m probably making a complex fruit cake – lots of ingredients, lots of preparation, lots of care and attention.My business course starts on Monday, (see previous post about my 8 steps to change), which I think is one of the ingredients in my cake mix.

My family life doesn’t need the same amount of cake mixing to make things better than they were last year. But I could go the extra mile with my boys and we could try different mixtures and see what we like and keep making them.

What about the cake for me? My favourite ever cake that my Mum used to make is called Coal Cake, which is similar to Tiffin, and hubby and the boys love. Yes, it needs preparation time, not too careful measurement, and no cooking. But it’s yummy, very sweet, and serves its purpose of comfort eating. It’s expensive to make compared to other cakes we make, but aren’t I worth it?
