We all talk about “having too many balls in the air”, “keeping all the plates spinning”, or simply, “having too much to do, and too little time”. And we think of it as negative.

What's important to us?

But why not turn it around and look at all the positives that our busy lives can give us? I’ve had one hell of a week (and I don’t usually use language like that!), but I’m still here with my house, family and business, so what have I got to complain about?

1. With so much to do we need to PRIORITISE. Some things may slip off the list, but were they that important in the first place?

2. We also need to DELEGATE. My two boys both picked up dusters this week. Not too sure where they ‘dusted’, but they certainly helped a bit. If the person we delegate to doesn’t actually do it to our standards is that a problem? As long as it’s done?

3. We need to do things GOOD ENOUGH, and not always aim for perfect. I was very much helped this week by this post I found “Accomplishing Big Goals without getting overwhelmed”. I’ve felt burdened this week with some of the things that had to be done. Someone even wanted to ‘cut my strings’ and let me float away. I couldn’t see what she meant at the time. I can now I’ve got through it.

4. We need SUPPORT. This may come from a variety of places – forums, networks, family, friends, partners, work colleagues. We need to ACCEPT HELP when offered from our support network, and not just carry on regardless thinking that we have to do everything ourselves.

5. We need to remember what is it that we want from life? Why are we getting so worked up about something, when people in other parts of the world are having their lives pulled apart through no fault of their own.

At the end of the day, it really didn’t matter that I couldn’t find the balloon pump for children’s party yesterday. All that mattered was that no.2 son had a great birthday with his friends. He did. My difficulties with my bras4mums website server this week are only one week of my business in it’s whole future lifetime. Yes, cash flow is tight. But if we’re doing the right things for our customers and we offer the right product and service, surely one week won’t make that much difference.

It’s been a tough week of juggling so many different balls, managing expectations, delegating to experts, (and children!), but it’s taught me a lot. My business coach saw me for the first time this week and was very perceptive. She helped me to see a number of issues in a different way.

March is almost here – new month, new goals, new balls to juggle, but hopefully I can PRIORITISE, DELEGATE, work GOOD ENOUGH with SUPPORT. I will ACCEPT HELP and I will ENJOY my life with my family and support more women through my bra fitting businesses, bras4mums and bras4all.
