Supporting (mainly) women in our daily lives – family, friends, business, bras, health, community

Browsing Posts tagged support

We all talk about “having too many balls in the air”, “keeping all the plates spinning”, or simply, “having too much to do, and too little time”. And we think of it as negative.

What's important to us?

But why not turn it around and look at all the positives that our busy lives can give us? I’ve had one hell of a week (and I don’t usually use language like that!), but I’m still here with my house, family and business, so what have I got to complain about? continue reading…

Give someone a hug today - it'll do you both good

A strange title I hear you shout! Exactly! Well now I guess I have to explain it to you?

I started a Leadership course for small businesses this week – see previous post. We had a 2 day residential to get to know each other and build up trust between the group as we’re going to be journeying together for the next 10 months.

We had a great 2 days. Day 2 was quite emotionally challenging for me. I certainly want this course to challenge me, and it’s what I need to help me move the business forward to the next level of growth. But I guess I hadn’t expected to need quite as many hugs as I got from the female members of the course.

And as I’m impatient to get moving with growing the business (anyone interested in offering a bras4mums bra fitting service around the UK? Still planning how I do this, but it’s certainly needed), I want someone to help me with my business plan. Hence the spreadsheet support someone has offered.

So, it does go together. Some of you may find you need a hug every time you re-do your business plan. Or that you avoid business planning, or re-checking your plan? Well, I’m finding that my new tweet friends are giving me a tweet-hug, and my new course mates are going to give me the support I need to grow bras4mums across the UK. The support you get from people, their knowledge and their ability to say just the right thing at the right time -it’s fab!

Give someone a hug today – you’ll feel better, and you never know how much it will mean to them.

This is all new to me – blogging. So I’m not sure if you can help. But I feel that you may be able to help me with a quandry that I find myself in today. I’d really appreciate it if you can.

My Mum died last May after a long fight with cancer. She was 65. My Dad was

also 65 and a very sociable person who had cared for Mum for a long time. The details aren’t important, but even though we knew it was going to happen, it was still difficult to cope with.

The difficulty I’ve got now, is that Dad is moving on. Again, that’s not a problem in itself. He’s always been a sociable person, and I never thought that he would be by himself for the rest of his life. continue reading…

I often get asked by partners buying lingerie for their women what should they do. They want to get it right, and maybe have bought stuff in the past that hasn’t been worn a lot, if at all! They don’t want to waste money, especially when times are tough, but they want to buy you something and treat you both.

Here’s my advice:

  1. Find out the current size of the bra you’re wearing, and look at the shape of it.
  2. Is this bra an old favourite? Has it been worn and worn, so the size on the label is likely to have no relation to your current size? If so, find a bra that hasn’t been worn quite so much that fits OK, and use that one as the guide
  3. When looking at bras he likes, and thinks you will like, can he find a similar shape bra? The shape of the bra is really important as this is what suits your body and breast shape best. continue reading…

Hello world!

Hi there world!

After quite of lot of contemplation, I feel I’ve been called to share lots of what’s in my head with you. I’m obviously new to this, so please bear with me, but also help me along the way – I welcome and value feedback and input to improve what I do and how I do it.

I have quite a few passions and interests, including my family, my bra business, and my work in the community of Chorley, Lancashire. All of this will offer support to other women, mainly, but I’m sure there’ll be men out there who will also gain from the information in my head.

I’m a very sociable person, who loves to help others – some friends say I do this more than looking after myself. So, ask me! I will always say no if something is out of my sphere of reference, or I haven’t got time to research something at that point in time.

I’m expecting to post every week, on a different topic, but all related to what we do in our lives as women. A lot of this will be about my experiences as a Mum of 2 boys, currently at Primary School, and, my current job and passion as a specialist bra fitter.
